I believe home is all about family. In Dierks song he says, "Home is where the hurt is". This video is not about my home, but about that of my best friend Mike. Mike and his wife have adopted 3 children from Guatamala. His youngest Joey, suffered from a rare form of epilepsy known as Dravet's Syndrome. Sadly, Joey passed away last year just shy of his 5th birthday. Mike decided to make something good come from this really crappy thing that happened to him and his family.
Mike started Joey's Song, a 501(c)(3) to raise money and awareness for epilepsy. He is raising money by producing a series of CDs named "Joey's Song". The CDs contain rare and unreleased music from nationally and internationally recognized artists. The first 2 CDs in the series were released in January. We are now working on our next couple of volumes and one of them is going to be a country CD. We already have commitments from Emily West, Rosanne Cash, Henry Paul(Blackhawk and Outlaws), Jason Albert(Heartland), Anthony Smith, Eddie Kilgallon(Montgomery Gentry), Michael Peterson and others.
We would love to have Dierks join the over 100 artists who have agreed to support Joey's Song. If Mike were to win this contest and spend a day with Dierks, I know that Dierks would support Joey's Song. I think if Mike got just 3 minutes with him he would support us.
