TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
It’s a shame that Emmylou won’t stand up for the working men and women of WV & KY.  We mine the coal that powers America, while performing our duties to the best of our abilities in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
It’s a shame that a handful of out of state environmental extremists have came to our homes, and told us how to do our jobs. Truthfully, Coal miners are the biggest environmental activists, because we live here and enjoy the beauty of nature  hunting and fishing all through these mountains.

Emmylou needs to be educated on post-mine land use, to see how beautiful reclaimed mine land looks. In addition, she needs to see how Appalachians depend on Mountaintop Removal jobs to provide areas for local schools, hospitals, regional jails, airports and neighborhoods (out of the flood plain).  We were not blessed with sufficient areas for development – so we have to make it.

Please do me a favor and let us work in peace. We don’t need outsiders coming here, and telling us how to live our lives. If you choose to pursue interests against coal mining, I will campaign against your CD sales, concerts and appearances. I will write local papers in Huntington, Charleston, Morgantown, Charlestown, and Parkersburg…..etc…..Telling them about how you don’t support our livelihood, or the WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF  APPALACHIA.
